How do I become a programmer and how much AS would I need to know?

Presumably, since you mentioned AS, you mean a flash Action Script programmer? In which case, not a clue, but I suspect several months of hard work, buying a decent book, doing tons of internet tutorials and burying yourself in Flash might be a good start.

Ah, so programmer as in scripting the site and things? All I know is a decent amount of AS, too bad.

I meant, do you want to program flash files using AS? In which case, go Google some tutorials and have fun messing around.

If you want to learn to program sites, using HTML and so forth, go to www.tizag.com

If you want to program computer programs, Google C++ tutorials, or Google "Visual Basic Express"

nono, Visual Basic is terrible, stay far away... very far.

conquer c++ and you have nothing to fear, it's a very general language that can relate to many others.

learn it.
